Methodist Health Services Corporation (MHSC) continued its strong financial performance in 2007. MHSC continued to realize the benefits of recent investments in facilities, technology, clinical information systems, and employees, allowing MHSC to control costs and provide outstanding healthcare more efficiently. The 5.25 percent operating margin represents another step toward Methodists’ goal of 7.0 percent, which is the margin necessary to adequately invest in its healthcare facilities and services and to provide community benefits consistent with its not-for-profit mission.

 

Financial highlights include:

  • Posted a $17.3 million operating income in 2007.
  • Recorded $316.6 million in net patient service revenues in 2007, a $12.6 million (4.1%) increase from 2006.
  • Grew total assets to $427 million at December 31, 2007, a $30.5 million (7.7%) increase from 2006.
  • Provided $74.9 million in community benefits in 2007 and $67.4 million in community benefits in 2006 including charitable care, discounted services, support of medical education, government subsidies, sponsorships, and community financial support.
